Jeffrey Epstein: Philanthropic Efforts
Money manager and philanthropist Jeffrey Epstein has provided significant support for a wide range of
projects for over a decade. While Epstein's initial focus was on scientific research projects and scientific
educational programs, he has since expanded his focus to humanitarian efforts of all kinds. Today,
Epstein's Foundation, the Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation, provides support to several organizations that
are working for the greater good.
The Humane Society
One project Epstein recently provided support to was te-build-a new campus for the Humane Society of
St. Thomas, on the US Virgin Islands. The Humane Society is an international organization that fights
against the abuse and neglect of pets and animals. The Society was first founded on St. Thomas buck in
1957.
The Humane Society's new campus is a state-of-the-art, 15,000 square foot facility that sits on 4.7 acres
of land. The land was donated by Lockhart Realty to the non-profit organization. The new facility offers
kenneling and an interactive experience for animals who stay there. The campus features walking trails
and outdoor parks. An education center is another critical part of the new campus. The education center
will provide classes and pet training for new pet owners.
One of The-goal-GPthe Humane Society's goals *we is to increase adoption rates. It also hopes to raise
awareness in the community of the plight of abandoned or mistreated pets. The Humane Society hopes
that its stronger presence can help reverse some sobering statistics about animals. The Society has had to
euthanize a high percentage of around4-5-percent-ecanimals that come through its doors because it has
not been able to find people to adopt them and because the number of stray animals in St. Thomas alone
is incredibly high.
Epstein also provides support to the largest Catholic charitable organization on the Virgin Islands, the
Catholic Charities of the US Virgin Islands. CCVI has been providing shelter, food and clothing to the
homeless and needy since the mid-1960s. In 2011 alone, the organization provided 44,000 hot meals and
fed over 200 people each day. In addition to providing shelter to the homeless, the charity also provides
life skills training to help people improve their lives.
Another area that Catholic Charities focuses on is youth education, notes Jeffrey Epstein. The
organization provides both academic learning opportunities and sports camps for disadvantaged children.
The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation has provided support to organizations across the US Virgin Islands
and is happy to support CCVI.
