Dear Jeffrey,
hopefully, this message finds you well!
I have conversed some more with Martin and people at MIT, and the following emerged:
1. It would be very worth wile for us to work together in Cambridge. We want to work together on
combining my Al models with evolutionary simulations (details will follow soon). If you could indeed fund
my stay, Martin will be happy to take care of hosting me at Harvard. (Also, I cannot say how much that
would mean to me.)
2. I will work with people both from MIT and Harvard, so both might be suitable as institutions. I don't
know which one would be easier for setting up a stipend. (There are some side issues, like day-care for a
three-year old, and health insurance for my small family.) If using the universities for transmitting funds
for the project turns out too bureaucratic, it is probably possible to use Ben Goertzel's "Humanity+"
organization as intermediary.
3. According to Martin, organizing work visa via Harvard will take up to six months, so we would have to
start as soon as possible to get the ball rolling.
4. Martin suggests to aim for three years duration for the project; I think that this is a good estimate.
Last but not least, what can I do for you? Anything to bring happiness and good things into your life?
Bests,
Joscha
PS: These are very interesting times, Berlin has turned tropical (which I thoroughly enjoy), and our
second child is due in the next few weeks or days. I am working on a book chapter and preparations for
next week's Cognitive Science conference.
