3 Q. So focusing on the first time that you went to Maxwell's townhouse, can you describe for the jury what happened when you went to her townhouse.

5 A. Yes. I had a really lovely time and I felt really special.
6 And I felt -- I felt that I had found a new connection that could be really meaningful to me. I had just moved back from France to England and left the school that I was -- that I was at and all my friends. And I was really happy that we had connected and that she seemed as excited as I was to have a new friend. And it was just -- I left that feeling exhilarated, like somebody wanted me, like somebody wanted to be my friend.

8 Q. What, if any, conversations do you remember having with Maxwell about your family?

10 A. I told her that things were quite difficult at my house and that I lived alone with my mother and that she had been unwell and struggling and that she would get very bad migraines, and I would often try and take care of her and give her massages and bring her cups of tea.

12 Q. What, if any, conversations do you recall having with Maxwell about what you wanted to do with your life?

14 A. Well, I had been offered a place at Oxford University to study law, and she shared that she had been to that university. And that I shared with her that I also was really interested in
