Good afternoon
Attached report from AVL BVI regarding LSJ & GSJ network issues.
I anticipate receiving proposal for RO to Sea water intake Fiber run Monday
The proposal will based be on
AVL supply the fiber and equipment
LSJ lay the conduit etc
AVL terminate, install and tidy up existing network
Can we forward existing network map etc to Rusty so he can proceed with proposal for Fiber and Wireless
networks ?
Please advise

Subject: LSJ Fibre
Hi Brice,
A quick summary and follow up based on my visit to LSJ the other day.
General overview (simplified):
I see an opportunity to simplify the data network and make it more reliable. This can be achieved by
focussing on three main areas:
EFTA01018483
I. Fibre Optics
2. Wireless Technology
3. Cabinet management
1- Fibre Optics
The current fibre network comprises a mix of different types of fibre. I recommend using Single Mode fibre
everywhere. This is the one standard that can be used most (I dare say all) systems and is not limited by
distance.
2 - Wireless technology
There is currently a mix of Ruckus and Ubiquiti systems. I recommend using Ruckus everywhere for
uniformity, control and management. It is also easier to support.
3 - Cabinet management
These can be tidied up and managed to make it simpler to troubleshoot and support. It will also provide
additional protection and reliability for the components and cabling. The External cabinet by the tower also
needs to be mounted properly with thermal conditioning (AC).
The above can be applied as Projects recommended below:
RO Fibre Optic link
This is urgent. I will create a proposal to supply the cable and terminate. The most efficient thing for us all
is for us to supply you with the best cable and you arrange for guys to pull it in and we will terminate and
power test. We can then work with Dean to confirm the link is up.
I will send a proposal ASAP.
Fibre Optic Network
To set up the island for the next 30-50 years, all buildings should be interconnected with OSP Single Mode
Fibre. It would be best to start with a map of the island and I can mark it up. Again, if you can coordinate
getting the fibre pulled in, I can arrange to terminate and test the fibre in each rack.
I will send a proposal a few days after I have received the map.
WiFi system
The island has the core hardware already and some experience with Ruckus. It's quite a simple project to
put everything on the Ruckus platform. I just need to know from Jermaine how many WAPs there are on
both islands and what model and type they are. If he can send me a network schematic, that would be very
useful. He said he had one.
I can send a proposal on receipt of information.
Cabinet Management
After the fibre is installed and terminated, we can take apart the old fibre cabinets and tidy everything up.
There's not much
And also, FYI...
AV
Although not part of the scope, I thought you might like to know that we are the regional reps for Bose K-
Array QSC SONOS McIntosh and Sonance I can see the client likes audio and I just thought you might
like to know that we can get very creative in designed high quality and powerful systems that are discrete.
For video and control, we are the regional Dealer for Crestron. This is useful if you have too many remote
controls and the system is hard to use.
EFTA01018484
Lutron
For lighting, I noticed the property is controlled with traditional switches. If there is an interest, we can help
control and dim the lights to create appropriate scenes for each zone using Lutron or Crestron.
I hope this is useful,
let me know if you want me to expand on anything at this stage. I am aware the clock is ticking.
best wishes
Rusty Henderson
