To Whom It May Concern:
My name is -I am a sophomore attending Antilles. I would love
be apart of the Rwanda project because I feel I will be an asset to people's lives. Though
I have not started to complete my community service hours, I am a person who helps
others on a regular basis. I feel that going to Rwanda would be a wonderful experience
for me. It will be an opportunity for me to give back to the world that has given so much
to me.
Many people say they would like to take a trip to Africa during there lifetime.
Some of the people who go to Africa go with the intentions of only having a good time
and enjoying themselves. I want to go to experience a new culture while help give aid to
those in need. Some feel that tshile helping others it can only benefit the person on the
receiving end but it can also help the person who is giving. It can show them that
something so simple to them can make a huge impact on someone else's life. It can also
make them get a better appreciation for the things they possess and lake advantage of.
On the trip to Africa I plan to become more educated about the state their in.
Therefore, when I return 1 can become an advocate and better direct people about their
needs. Africa is in a terrible situation and for a country that gives so much to the world
I
find it unacceptable and disturbing. I feel it is my mission to help make it better
in any
way that I possibly can. Every bad day that I encounter I remember that
someone else is
experiencing a day much worse than mine. I hope that you see me as a
candidate for the
Rwanda trip and that I will be able to excel in the best way possible
towards this project.
Sincerely,

Dear Admissions Committee,
I am writing this letter of recommendation o is currently a
student enrolled in my Geometry class. I find to be goal-oriented. optimistic, and very
energetic. She has a great deal of common sense, a witty sense of humor, and a level of maturity
well beyond her years. She is. without a doubt, a unique and gifted individual.
brilliance and dedication is inspirational to both students and faculty. She is always
prepared for class and enjoys asking as well as answering questions. Shc is a natural leader and
she enjoys working through problems with me on the board. She sets the tone of the class — and
when she works hard. others tend to do so as well.
worked with me on her math skills over the summer. She worked extremely hard and
she had a positive attitude — a true testament to her dedication to her studies. She enjoys learning
new' material. I ve • eceive requests from students to work on math skills over the
summer, however attended class three days a week and she never missed a single day.
pushes herself to do well and wants her classmates to do their best. I witness her
helping her peers with their homework on a number of oerasions after school and during lunch.
She motivates them and acts as a leader — showing her fellow classmates that learning is
extremely important to being successful.
Throughout year, homework has been complete, well written. and precisely detailed.
She is a perfixtionist, n g for average or mediocre work. She is always prepared for
tests and quizzes. I give my highest possible recommendation. and I strongly believe
that she will be a valuab e asset to the Rwanda Pro' re arc any questions. or if 1 can
provide you with any additional information about . please do not hesitate to contact
me.

To Whom It May Concern:
There is a certain glow about that exudes maturity. Although she is only a
sophomore at Antillles, she conducts herself in a manner of a young woman beyond high
school. She is involved with the school in many ways. Additionally, she is a cheerleader
for the Arawak She is a vivacious, yet stoic character, a combination not
easily achieved. is driven by her strong ties to her family, and an innate
interest in experiential learning. Her decision to participate in the Rwanda Project would
stem from this curiosity about the world around her and her empathy for others.
has been exposed to many of my own stories in relation to experiencing Africa
at a young age. Each time she heard another, her eyes seemed to glow even brighter.
She has always wanted to travel and study the lives of others. As her Algebra teacher.
oddly enough, we were able to have many conversations about living and working
abroad. She would he a wonderful asset for the second sojourn to Rwanda, and she
would be a wonderful stewardess upon her arrival back to St. Thomas. She loves to share
her experiences when she knows it will make a difference in her little pan of the world.
If you should have any further questions regarding exemplar!: character,
please feel free to cpptact me via email or by phone.
