'thousands' of new jobs Despite setbacks of Islamic State, Egypt's Coptic Christians remain afrisk By Sean Savage/JNS.org As the Islamic State terror group faces setbacks in Syria and Iraq, its affiliate in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula has turned its sights on the region's Coptic Christian minority as part of its ongoing insurgency against the Egyptian government. More than 350 Christian families have recently fled from the Sinai city of El Arish, near the Egyptian border with Gaza and Israel. The mass displacement of Coptic Christians from the Sinai was prompted by a string of murders and threats by Islamic State terrorists in that region since late January. "The Islamic State is losing in Iraq and Syria, and has decided to lash out through its affiliates in places like the Sinai Peninsula," said Robert Nicholson, director of the Philos Project, an organization that promotes "positive Christian engagement in the Middle East." BACK TO ARTICLE INDEX Netanyahu:$15.3 billion Intel- Mobileye deal to create 'thousands of new jobs Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with government and business leaders Tuesday on the subject of American high- tech giant Intel's recent $15.3 billion acquisition of Mobileye, the largest-ever acquisition of an Israeli technology company. Netanyahu met with Intel International CEO Brian Krzanich, Mobileye founders Amnon Shashua and Ziv Aviram, and Israeli Economy and Industry Minister Eli Cohen in the aftermath of the second-largest acquisition in Intel's history. "This is a celebration for the Israeli economy and for Jerusalem," Netanyahu said at the meeting. "Israel is quickly becoming a global technology power and this is no EFTA00629127 coincidence." The prime minister also said the acquisition would lead to the creation of "thousands of additional jobs" in Israel and "will inject funds into the Treasury." Acquiring Mobileye, a world leader in vision technology for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, places Intel at the forefront of the emerging self-driving car market. Intel's Krzanich said at the meeting that the deal "testified to Intel's faith in Israel as a center of innovation and its belief in the potential of the driverless car market," Israel Hayom reported. Mobileye's Shashua said that "it's not the money. The money is important. We want to change the world, change the face of cities."
