So the rates of delays disclosure have been studied a lot in various populations. And so we know most of the studies show that the majority of victims of childhood sexual abuse who are abused during adolescence don't disclose until sometime later, typically in adulthood. And there are other factors that are associated with delayed disclosure in adolescents, but in terms of age that would be one. 6. Q. Can you explain why disclosure of childhood sexual abuse is not common among adolescents? 7. A. Part of it has to do with the developmental life stage of an adolescent individually. I mean, they -- we know that even if an adolescent does tell, for example, anyone, they're likely, most likely to tell a peer. Adolescents tend not to like to talk to adults. 8. Also, adolescents often like to think of themselves as older and more competent.
