Will send you an update of my European trip. Need to talk to you about going to Elton John's charity dinner at his home on Thursday, June 22nd. Since I did a lunch, screening and press conference for him in Cannes for his UTube videos of his songs and it was a big success...I wormed my way into an invite for his annual dinner at his house on Thursday, June 22 for his charity. I can pay the $15,000 or take it off my birthday present? Think it's a good business move to go. #2. My apartment total renovation has a $200,000 budget I am paying for as an investment into my real estate...in case I want to sell if quickly at a profit.. or I die and Mattie wants to sell it. It's going to be a jewel box show stopper. I just got Town and Country to do a major profile on the project with this young decorator who is cutting her fee in half for the publicity. Story...70 year old life long career woman finally gets off the jet set to re-invent a home for herself as a birthday present. Cleans out 30 years of hording memoralbilia of movies, clothes and books. Town and Country loves the story. Will be terrific. #3. Birthday party...parties. I am doing a small dinner at Gigi/Avie Mortimer's Southampton house on Sunday, July 16th..(birthday is Monday, July 17th) for the Tennis Girls and a few friends...that I am paying for food and staff. This dinner at the New York Public Library that Princess Fiyral got me into...I am re-thinking. She put down a 40,000 non refundable deposit on Astor Hall and the hugh room behind. (I think she just gave the Library that money and does not expect me to re-imburse her.) I do not want a party for 300 because even with Firyal's "donation" a 300 person party will exceed my budget. So I spoke to the library. Firyal's room rental is good for any room. I am going over there tomorrow to look a smaller rooms and cut this down to 100 which will be in my budget..it will no more expensive that going to a restaurant because the building rental fee is paid for. I have to figure out a date when most are in NYC either for fall social season of right before thanksgiving or xmas holidays. The free month at the Carlyle is great. They know I am going to Europe on the night of June 21 and are giving me the last week to be used in mid-july when I come back. Never done before. I am Eliose of the Carlyle. I met with Stellene Volandes, editor-in-chief of Town & Country earlier today about my apartment and she said she is going to do the article. Very excited about it. I am thinking I want to do a smaller birthday dinner at the NYPL, for around 100 people. I have October 30th and November 13th on hold. I am going to see the space on Wednesday and will know better then what I want to do. I may go to London a night early, on Wednesday, June 21st, because Elton John invited me to an event at his home. Tickets are $15,000 and the evening raises money for AIDS. Could I possibly put some of my birthday money towards one ticket? I want to discuss this with you.
