Qualifications
Lifetime experience in all aspects of the cattle ranching industry in the southwest (AZ,
NM) and northwest (OR, NV) regions, as well as Wyoming. Certified by Carnation
Genetics in pregnancy detection and artificial insemination of cattle. Graduate of Jack
Hedricks School for Stockmen in aspects of veterinary medicine for the cattle rancher.
Lifetime experience in starting colts, training saddle horses, and shoeing. Some
experience in packing, guiding, dude wrangling, camp cooking, dutch over cooking and
pit barbeque, as well as assisting professional chefs on guest ranches.

10/05-Present Self-employed contracting the care and back-grounding of calves and
yearlings on both winter and summer operations in Magdalena and
Moriarty areas of New Mexico.
3/00 — 10/05 Managed yearling operations for cutting horse ranch, Las Vegas, NM
Responsibilities: Health and pasture management, shipping and receiving
on various leases, organizing weekly shipments of cattle between pastures
and practice pen for cutting events, starting and developing colts,
designing and building pens, corrals, stall barns, and cooking for large
numbers at events.
5/92 — 3/00 Worked in conjunction with ranch owner/operator, 64,000 acre cow/calf
operation, Anton Chico, NM.
Responsibilities: cattle care, calving, culling, sorting, buying bulls, design
and building of corrals, prescribed burning of juniper, welding,
supervising gathering crews, branding and shipping cattle, buying and
selling horses, and general ranch maintenance.
11/87 - 5/92 Ranch Manager: 20,000 acre Blair Brown Ranch, Las Vegas, NM.
Responsibilities: Procurement, receiving, processing, health, nutrition,
condition, marketing, shipping, general ranch operations, record keeping
on yearling cattle, labor management, horse shoeing, pasture rotation,
brush control, and logging and timber management.
2185 - 11/87 Ranch Manager: 60,000 acre summer ranch, Vaughn, NM, and 45,000
acre winter ranch near Malaga, NM.
Responsibilities: Obtaining leased land, purchasing, receiving, processing,
pre-conditioning, marketing, shipping, and record keeping on 2,200 head
yearling operation, moving complete operations both spring and fall,
purchasing horses, labor management, and all other ranch operations.
