This is the kind of shit I had to deal with getting sworn declarations from my former
professors. You can get their gist. He made my life miserable, stating things people
said about me that were not true, and then got it to spread...

CASE NO.: CV03-6606 CAS (PLAX)
DECLARATION OF L. PEARCE WILLIAMS, Ph.D
L. Pearce Williams, declare:
I have personal knowledge of the facts as set forth below.
I am not a party to this action.
I hold the position of Professor Emeritus in the History of Science at Cornell University, in
Ithaca, New York.
I am attaching as Exhibit A, a true and correct CV of my resume.

I first met Mr. Seckel in the fall of 1976, when William Provine, another professor in the history
of science, introduced us. We shared a mutual love of books and the history of science.
Between 1976 and 1980, Seckel and I developed a very close professor/student relationship,
and we spent a good deal of time together and developed a close personal friendship. During
those four years, Seckel was enrolled in several of my courses at Cornell, including my History
of Western Civilization Class, and some of my upper level history of science seminars. He was
an unusually bright student and did all the required course work with passion and enthusiasm.
Attached as exhibit B, is a true and correct copy of an inscription that I handwrote to Seckel,
which summed up my high opinion of Seckel as my former student, "To Al Seckel, my most
unusual, and possibly best, student. Pearce."
My close relationship to Al Seckel continued after his departure from Cornell University as well
as to Laura Seckel. in fact, i was a member of their wedding party.
My friendly relations with Al Seckel continue to this day, and i was extremely honored when he
returned to Cornell University in 2004 to give the Presidential lecture on his work in visual
perception. I attended that lecture, which was introduced by then Cornell President Jeffrey
Lehman. Seckel's dedication to me at the end brought tears to my eyes. i was proud of him
and that my former student turned out so well.
It is my understanding that a Tom McIver, who I do not know, is using my name and reputation
to spread false and defamatory information about my relationship to Al Seckel as well as my
family. The document that Tom McIver is using in my name is an outright forgery, and I
would have never have written such a document.
It is not true that Al Seckel has ever tried to defraud either me or any member of my family. It is
not true that I have ever called him a "thief" Mr. Seckel possesses an excellent knowledge of
the history of science, and any representations to the contrary are false. These and any other
such false and heinous representations said to be in my name are not only harmful to Mr.
Seckel fine reputation, but to mine as well. i have never, nor would I state such things about
Mr. Seckel.
In fact, i have maintained extremely cordial relations with Mr. Seckel through the present day,
and when he comes to Ithaca, he is always welcome as a guest who stays with us at our home.
He is also friendly with my son Adam.
In addition, when Mr. Seckel ran the Southern California Skeptics in the 80s, I came out and
visited him, and lectured for the group at Caltech.
8. Attached to this Declaration as Exhibit A is a true and correct copy of a note in my hand,
dated May 25, 1982, which I sent to Al Seckel.
9. Attached to this Declaration as Exhibit B is my [DATE] letter to [Al
Seckel or to Al & Laura etc.]
