Your generosity and intellectual interest in our interdisciplinary work at the interface of Neuroscience and the Arts made it possible for my colleagues and me to: (1) engage Massachusetts and California law firms on the business of moving The Institute 49420)3 to California; (2) readily accept the invitation of European auditory neuroscientists to give two talks (one the closing lecture) plus a workshop at the Neuroscience of Music Symposium in the Swiss Alps (http://lcntepfl.ch/page- 76731-en.html); (3) complete and publish in PLoS One a paper on the role of auditory cortex in loudness perception and on the neuroanatomical dissociability of sensation and discrimination (http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjoumal.pone.0044602); (4) speak at the PainWeek 2012 annual conference about the beneficial effects of music on pain in premature infants undergoing medical procedures - work you previously supported that a team of Institute-affiliated faculty and students published last year in the journal Music & Medicine (attached).
