Afn shvel: New Issue Available Now!
In This Issue
We would like to let all of our Yiddish-
readers know that the latest issue of the Afn shvel

celebrating its 70th year of publication. It features articles of Yiddish
cultural, literary, linguistic and communal interest, as well as a beautiful
modern layout, high-resolution photos, and extensive glossaries to
help newer readers.

Although Afn Shvel is not a YIVO publication, all of its editors have
strong connections to YIVO. The current editor, Dr. Sheva Zucker, is a
longtime teacher and a former student in YIVO's Uriel Weinreich
Summer Program in Yiddish Language, Literature and Culture. Her
predecessor, Dr. Mordkhe Schaechter, taught for over 30 years in this
program and edited YIVO's publication Yidishe shprakh. Dr. Yitskhok-
Nakhmen Shteynberg, editor 1942-1957, was one of YIVO's founders.
Ben-Adir, the first editor, was active in YIVO at the time of its founding
and was a member of its economic-statistical section.
