e RU4%00%31 POS%TIDOS
A December 30, 2014, federal civil suit was filed in Florida by Jane Doe 1 (Courtney Wild) and
Jane Doe 2 against the United States for violations of the Crime Victims' Rights Act by the U.S.
Department of Justice's NPA with Epstein and his limited 2008 state plea. There was a later
unsuccessful effort to add Virginia Roberts (Jane Doe 3) and another woman (Jane Doe 4) as
plaintiffs to that case.11321 The addition accused Alan Dershowitz of sexually abusing a minor, Jane
Doe 3, provided by Epstein ['331 The allegations against Dershowitz were stricken by the judge and
eliminated from the case because he said they were outside the intent of the suit to re-open the
plea agreement.WAIMI A document filed in court alleges that Epstein ran a "sexual abuse ring",
and lent underage girls to "prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign
presidents, a well-known prime minister, and other world leaders".D361
This long-running lawsuit is pending in federal court, aimed at vacating the federal plea agreement
on the grounds that it violated victims' rights.NO On April 7, 2015, Judge Kenneth Marra ruled
that the allegations made by alleged victim Virginia Roberts against Prince Andrew had no bearing
on the lawsuit by alleged yictims seeking to reopen Epstein's non-prosecution plea agreement with
the federal government: the judge ordered that allegation to be struck from the record.La41 Judge
Marra made no ruling as to whether claims by Roberts are true or false. Though he did not allow
Jane Does 3 and 4 to join the suit, Marra specifically said that Roberts may later give evidence
when the case comes to court.' 8l
On February 21, 2019, in the case of Two Jane Does v. United States, Senior Judge of the U.S.
District Court for the Southern District of Florida Kenneth Main said federal prosecutors violated
the law by failing to notify victims before they allowed him to plead guilty to only the two Florida
offenses. The judge left open what the possible remedy could be.D39]

Jeffrey Epstein - Wildpedle
Epstein attended local public schools, first attending Public School 188, and then Mark Twain
Junior High School nearby. 26 In 1967, Epstein attended the National Music Camp at the
Interlochen Center for the Arts.1121 He began playing the piano when he was five.1321 He graduated
in 1969 from Lafayette High School at age 16, having skipped two grades.J3'1[3~1 Later that year, he
attended classes at Cooper Union until he changed colleges in 19715311 From September 1971, he
attended the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, but left without
receiving a degree in June 1974[3111321
Career
Teaching
Epstein started working in September 1974 as a physics and mathematics teacher for teens at the
Dalton School. on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.14211 Donald Barr, who served as the
headmaster until June 197.T,FfficIMFa§1 - was known to have made several unconventional
recruitments at the time, although it is unclear whether he had a direct role in hiring
Epstein.(331[311M Three months after Barr's departure, Epstein began to teach at the school,
despite his lack of credentials.M Epstein allegedly showed inappropriate behavior toward
underage students at the time.(331[371 He became acquainted with Alan Greenberg, the chief
executive officer of Bear Steams, whose son and daughter were attending the school. Greenberg's
daughter, Lynne Koeppel, pointed to a parent-teacher conference where Epstein influenced
another Dalton parent into advocating for him to GreenbergSag In June 1976, after Epstein was
dismissed from Dalton for "poor performance",Mag421 Greenberg offered him a job at Bear

Banking
Epstein joined Bear Steams in 1976 as a low-level junior assistant to a floor trader.i4~1 He swiftly
moved up to become an options trader, working in the special products division, and then advised
the bank's wealthiest clients, such as Seagram president Edgar Bronfman, on tax mitigation
strategies.Magal Jimmy Cayne, the bank's later chief executive officer, praised Epstein's skill
with wealthy clients and complex products. In 1980, four years after joining Bear Stearns, Epstein
became a limited partner.M
In 1981, he was asked to leave Bear Steams for, according to his sworn testimony, being guilty of a
"Reg D violation".1-451 Even though Epstein departed abruptly, he remained close to Cayne
and Greenberg and was a client of Bear Steams until its collapse in 2o08.14a1
Financial consulting
In August 1981, Epstein founded his own consulting firm, Intercontinental Assets Group Inc.
(IAG),14.6_1 which assisted clients in recovering stolen money from fraudulent brokers and

Liquid Funding was initially 4o percent owned by Bear Stearns. Through the help of the credit
rating agencies — Standard & Poor's, Fitch Rating and Moody's Investors Service — the new
bundled securities were able to be created for companies so that they got a gold-plated AAA rating.
The implosion of such complex securities, because of their inaccurate ratings, led to the collapse of
Bear Stearns in March 2008 and set in motion the financial crisis of 2007-2008 and the
subsequent Great Recession. If Liquid Funding were left holding large amounts of such securities
as collateral, it could have lost large amounts of money.(651(671
Investments
Hedge funds
Between 2002 and 2005, Epstein invested $8o million in the D.B. Zwirn Special Opportunities
Fund, a hedge fund that invested in illiquid debt securities [681[691 In November 2006, Epstein
attempted to redeem his investment after he was informed of accounting irregularities in the
fund 1.70.1 By this time, his investment had grown to $140 million. The D.B. Zwirn fund refused to
redeem the investment. Hedge funds that invest in illiquid securities typically have years-long
"lockups" on their capital for all investors and require redemption requests to be made in writing
6o to 90 days in advancei-1 8 The fund was closed in 2008, and its remaining assets of
approximately $2 billion, including Epstein's investment, were transferred to Fortress Investment
Group when that firm bought the assets in 200068)1691 Epstein later went to arbitration with

Rann was comfortably re-elected in 2006, taking 28 seats to
the Liberals' 15—to date, Labor's largest majority since the
abolition of the Playmander. Labor also garnered a two-party
vote of 56.8 percent, a significant comeback from its low of 39
percent in 1993 under Arnold.
Rann personally likened his government to Dunstan's, stating
"I'm a totally different person to Don Dunstan, but in the 7os
for different reasons South Australia stood head and shoulders
above the crowd. We stood out, we were leaders. The federal
government is setting up a social inclusion unit based on ours. Rann at National Sorry_ Day in Elder

being a kind of model for others, which is what Dunstan used
to say he wanted us to be ... a laboratory and a leader for the
future." Rann says he expected other reforms to be based upon those enacted under his
government, citing the state's strategic plan, a 1O-year framework for the development of
government and business. "It's a plan for the state, not just promises at each election. A lot of
colleagues interstate thought I'd gone mad when we named targets. Well we didn't want to set
targets we could easily pass and then pat ourselves on the back for, what's the point of that?"E'f-'

total of 79 economic and social targets were set,[in and in 2O1O Rann commented "with most of its
targets achieved, on track or within reach".1i81 However, the state's Integrated Design
Commissioner, Tim Horton, said in 2O11: "Its targets are really great, but I don't think any of us
have signed on to why those targets exist or what we can do to further them. It's a top-down
approach. I worry the document exists in the minds of agencies but not in the minds of people."[191
During Rann's first and second terms, Rann was often the most popular Premier in the country,
with his approach to government generally moderate and crisis-free.Ewl Newspoll early in 2007
saw Rann peak at a historic 64 per cent as Preferred Premier, and 61 per cent on the two-party-
preferred vote. University of Adelaide Professor of Politics Clem Macintyre said that after the State
Bank collapse, Rann had to re-establish Labor's credentials as an economic manager as a matter of
urgency, and "in that sense Rann had a whole lot of priorities to concentrate on that Dunstan
didn't even think about", with a legacy built on economic achievements, achieving the triple-A
credit rating, as well as its capacity to deliver infrastructure projects.(213
Fourth quarter 2007 polling saw a reduction in the strong support for Rann's Labor government
since the previous election, on 54 percent of the two-party-preferred vote, a fall from the previous
poll of five percent. Rann's Preferred Premier rating was at so percent compared to 25 percent for
then Liberal leader Martin Hamilton-Smith.[221[?-3) Third quarter 2008 polling saw a more
pronounced drop in the primary vote, down three to 38 percent, with the Liberal vote up five to 40
percent, breaking to a two-party vote of 50-50 after preferences — the Preferred Premier figure
recorded a six-point drop to 48 percent for Rann and up three to 30 percent for Hamilton-Smith.
Some commentators put the poll slump down to "labour movement ructions" over the
underfunded WorkCover liability (see 2008 Parnell—Bressington filibuster), consolidation of rural
health services, and the continued degradation of the River Mueray.1241[?.5_1
Newspoll saw Labor back in a winning position on 54 to 46 in late 2008, and then 56 to 44 in early
2009 along with increases in the Preferred Premier rating. Polling taken from The Sunday Mail
during the 5o-5o polling suggested that whilst there had been large swings away from the
government in country areas, polling held relatively firm at 2006 election levels in the
metropolitan areas.[26]
The2 009 Frome by-electionsaw Labor pick up a small increase in the two-party-preferred vote.
This, coupled with the "dodgy documents affair", also known as "dodgy-gate", saw Hamilton-
Smith step down from the Liberal leadership, to be replaced by Isobel Redmond.
