From: Richard Kahn To: Jeffrey Epstein <jeevacation@gmail.com> Subject: Fwd: zorro verizon intemet Date: Fri, 07 Aug 2015 00:05:03 +0000 More from James. He states at end of email that having 2 antennas or accounts will not give us 30mb download but 15mb x 2. To modify my earlier answer, we can either "load balance" two intemet connections -- that is direct the traffic to which ever line is fastest at that second -- or we can configure a "failover" -- which is when the primary connection goes down, the second one picks up (done for reliability not speed). Load balancing has some problems, the first of which is that the IP address you appear to be from keeps changing mid-conversation, so when you're logged into an HTTPS site (like all gmail) and the address you're logged in from changes, Google (or whatever site) thinks someone is impersonating your connection and shuts you down. The only way to avoid that scenario is to use a BGP router to some-way-I-don't-understand to keep your IP address the same even though you're switching your connection route. It's generally only used on enterprise networks, it's expensive and difficult to do correctly. However, while I was waiting for a reply from tech support earlier, I did find this Cisco RV042 that has something they call "smart link" which might be a barebones version of what we want from BGP. I need to read into it more. BUT. Even if we get a perfect load balanced solution in place and a second VZW antennae installed, etc. each device can only use one route at a time, so if he goes to speedtest.net or downloads a large file, he won't see 30 Mbps down, he'll still see 15. Two computers could download the same large file at the same time and both be at 15, but no one device will ever see 30. Is he having specific problems that he's trying to resolve? I should mention, if we decide to pursuit this kind of upgrade, it would only make sense clean up the entire network configuration there -- get rid of the adtran and pull detailed reports from the new router -- and I would EFTA00849221 pretty much HAVE to go there and install it. Are you in the office tomorrow? We can talk more about this then... It's pretty complex stuff. The short answer is it theoretically "can" be done, but it's going to require special router hardware and a configuration expert than knows more than either Murph or I. Basically, it has to look at each internet request, from each device and decide which intemet connection to send it out on and make sure it uses that same connection for all the subsequent requests from that device to that destination. (otherwise any secure website — such as gmail or amazon — you log into will detect your address changed and log you out). The tech is called BGP and neither of Murph nor I know it well enough to set it up (he and I have discussed it for Zorro previously).
