Executing malicious attachments or visiting compromised sites can render all of your data unreadable. This type of attack takes advantage of both computer vulnerabilities (unpatched systems) as well as a lack of security awareness (social engineering tactics). IMG recommends you take the following actions to guard against this form of attack: • Educate employees about Ransomeware. • Remind employees not to open attachments they are not otherwise expecting or attachments from untrusted sources. • Remind employees not to follow links embedded in e-mail messages from untrusted sources and to be discriminating if the link is provided from a trusted source. • Confirm systems are patched. • Ensure antivirus signatures are up to date. • Certifythat all data is backed up and restore procedures have been tested.
