As you are aware the Ranch needs to Construct a 2 Acre Irrigation Pond to meet the 50% (34 afa ) diversion requirements under the
Settlement Agreement for Permit E 7871.
After much consideration I would like to recommend the following
Expand the Abandoned Shooting Range by I acre to make a 2 acre Irrigation Pond, see attached Google Snap Shot.
Sept, 2003 Longley Excavation made an error and constructed a 2 Acre Evaporation Pond, instead of the required 1 acre Pond. A
dividing Berm was added to correct their mistake, the unlined area was developed into a Shooting Range, which is no longer in use.
The cost of development at this location will be far less than the location I originally had in mind.The Ranch can utilize the present
Infrastructure for Well 6 and Dakota Pumping Station
It will require laying pipe, some valve and bull head adjustments, which would be completed by Ranch personal.
This location would also address your concerns regarding, odor, mosquitos and wildlife being to close to the Main House
Please Note the Following:
The estimated cost of just a Basic Pond in a location close to the POU is estimated at SII3,000.00, this does not include any
supporting infrastructure, i.e. power, pumps, pipping, fencing and controls
I would also recommend the existing Evaporation Pond next to the Shooting Range be closed down as per New Mexico State
guidelines and Permit DPI452 closure plan.
The Evaporation Pond is no longer in use, and the permit is up for renewal in May of this year.
Before I move forward with the real numbers, are you OK with the Proposed Location?
