Subject: Re: KaiserDillon
look =t hi.. he says he has worked with ASU counsels before.. is not =dversarial.
I have a few local suggestions but not =ure..
Here is from a law professor at ASU:
"One of the problems in finding a top =aw firm in this town that can be adverse to ASU is that ASU uses most =f these
firms, including those I have worked =ith or know people at and thus can recommend on =ersonal experience. For both
for ethical and business reasons, =owever, these firms can't or do not want to be adverse to ASU. The =nly firm that I
know something about that might be right for you and =ould take your case is Martin & Bonnett
http://www.martinbonnett.com/ I know them because =hey represented a tenured ASU professor fired on what
seemed to =any of us at the law school to be a trumped up charge of plagiarism. =She had plagiarized some material in
her syllabus for which the =niversity committee hearing hear case recommended a =elatively light sanction. Crow
rejected these findings and fired =er. (The scuttlebutt was that she was a major pain in the ass in =er department and
that was the real reason she was fired.) My =ate colleague Joe Feller worked closely with this firm and arranged for =he
AAUP to file an amicus brief which many members of the law =aculty, including me, signed. Crow was none to happy
about this, btw. =y sense is that although the professor lost her case (courts =re reluctant to intervene in these types of
case), =artin & Bonnett did a good job. So when my dean =ired a secretary assigned to me, Paul Bender, and several
others =including another former dean), Paul and I contacted the firm for =ome advice. If you would like my help to find
a firm in another =ity, especially LA, I should be able to offer you more =election and a more definite and knowledgeable
recommendation. Jim =nbsp;"

Just had an hour consult with Justin Dillon of KaiserDillon, =robably the premiere Title IX
firm in the country (you can google all =he work they have done). He is presently doing 2 cases at ASU, =nd it turns out
he read physics of star trek when he was in college and =s a big fan. He seemed excellent and knew just how the system
=orks (and has already once forced ASU to end a suspension of a student =ecause they violated his rights).
Anyway, we talked strategy etc, and I =m confident if I went with a lawyer to keep me in
my position at ASU =hey are the firm. They are not cheap though. $15K retainer, =nd he expected the full process
would probably be between $50-100K. =nbsp;
Let me be blunt. Can you help? I have already =ost over $100K in speaking
engagements this year alone. =nbsp;

There =s no one else I would ask so bluntly, nor anyone else I will be =bsolutely fine with
