Subject: RE: carpet install in basement question
I would go with what the installer says. Things have changed quite a bit since I
sold carpeting. The carpet you chose is commercial so that may be the way. I
would still ask if there is a higher grade of carpet in the same style. Just
before you pull the trigger. ****Also ask S and S about the recommended
installation method***. That's nice to hear about the pour.
Costco is a great pour. Now you will look at those floors.

Subject: carpet install in basement question
Hi Bob...yesterday at Prosource I asked about padding for the basement (Ike wants
the minimal padding) The installer would use 1/4 closed cell gluedown padding
and then glue the carpet on top of that...I am told this is called "double set"
in the industry...
Is this an ok way to do it? this is standard?
FYI-Billy (carpet seller at Prosource who came to our house to help the installer
measure) said our basement was really nicely poured...nice and flat.. :)
Also, after looking at lots of carpet at Prosource for the basement, I really
like the one I showed you from S&S the best. Brenda at S&S will give me a dollar
off the new list price if I place the order by Monday (since I have an old price
list...old because the new price list came out like 5 days ago). She wants to
make sure that we will have someone at the house able to get the giant roll of
carpet off the truck (12x125) We will right? She wants me to place the order
now because production of the carpet I want happens next week and she wants me to
be in line for it...
all sound ok?
